Sean Joyce Joins HP+P
Sean Joyce will join the leading bipartisan government relations firm Heather Podesta + Partners (HP+P). With experience as a senior House Republican staff member for both Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry and Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster, Joyce adds to a growing bipartisan team dedicated to providing unparalleled strategic advice and client service. Joyce augments the HP+P Republican lineup, which includes Robert Hoffman, Annie Palisi, Kelli Ripp, and Amy Swonger.
Most recently, Joyce served as chief of staff for Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC), vice chairman of the Financial Services Committee. “Sean is a smart and capable adviser who possesses deep knowledge of how to navigate the legislative process in Washington,” Rep. McHenry said. “Sean’s substantive political, communications, and legislative experience, coupled with his network and relationships, provide him with the ability to get the job done.”
Prior to his tenure in McHenry’s office, Joyce served Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) in a number of capacities, starting as a driver and moving up as communications director, campaign manager, and legislative director, eventually handling Shuster’s national security portfolio for the House Armed Services Committee. Joyce oversaw a number of policy issues for Shuster, including transportation, energy, foreign affairs, and intelligence.
“Sean’s unique understanding of the levers and brakes on Capitol Hill comes from hard-earned experience,” Chairman Shuster said. “As a relentless advocate, he does not shy away from tough fights. I have no doubt Sean will continue to succeed in his new role.”
“Sean joins HP+P at an exciting time. He will be an asset to our financial services, transportation, and defense clients. We look forward to having him join the team,” Heather Podesta said.
Joyce began coursework toward his masters in a night program at the National Defense University at Ft. McNair before completing his Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
