Teal Baker has more than fifteen years’ experience in Democratic politics. She most recently served as the Deputy Chief Operating Officer on the Obama for America campaign in Chicago, where she was responsible for risk management, HQ and call center operations, as well as the travel and correspondence departments. Baker previously worked on the 2008 Obama campaign as the National Director of Surrogates and served as the Director of Entertainment for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee. In addition, she has consulted for the Democratic National Committee, the 2006 Pennsylvania Coordinated Committee and the Kerry-Edwards campaign.
Prior to the 2012 campaign, Baker was a Principal at the Podesta Group where she provided guidance to the firm’s clients on developing and implementing political strategy with the Obama administration. She also served as Chief of Staff, working with the firm’s management to coordinate the Podesta Group’s work on behalf of its clients. Early in her career, she served as the office manager and scheduler for former Congressman Brian Baird (D-WA) and as a scheduler in the office of former Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN).
